REVEREND CANON JEAN-BAPTISTE COMMINS

Rev. Canon Jean-Baptiste Commins, a Franco-American citizen, was ordained a priest of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest in 2015. He currently serves as the Pastor at St. Joseph Shrine in Detroit, Michigan, and as Honorary Board Member for Regina Caeli Academy, a preK-12 classical homeschool hybrid with over 25 centers across the nation. Canon Commins received his high-school education in one of the Institute's prestigious schools near Paris, France prior to joining the seminary in Florence, Italy.


The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest is a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right whose rai·son d'ê·tre is the honor of God and the sanctification of priests in the service of the Church and souls. Its specific aim is missionary: to spread the reign of our Lord Jesus Christ in all spheres of human life and society by drawing from the millennial treasury of the Roman Catholic Church, particularly her liturgical tradition, the unbroken line of spiritual thought and practice of her saints, and her cultural patrimony in music, art and architecture.


Canon Commins is currently pursuing a master’s in theology at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, in view of deepening his knowledge of the human person and the importance of the Salesian spirituality at the school of Don Bosco for the integral formation of man.
