

MATTHEW BUNSON

Dr. Matthew Bunson is one of the United States’ leading authorities on the papacy and the Church. His more than 55 books include: The Encyclopedia of Catholic History; The Encyclopedia of Saints; The Encyclopedia of U.S. Catholic History; The Angelic Doctor: The Life and World of St. Thomas Aquinas; and the first English-language biography of Pope Francis. He is also the creator of EWTN’s award winning documentary series, “The Doctors of the Church.” Dr. Bunson serves as Vice President and Editorial Director of EWTN News, is on the faculty of the Catholic Distance University where he teaches Church History, and is a Senior Fellow for the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. Dr. Bunson has also served as a consultant to MSNBC, NBC News, CBS Radio, and the BBC, as well as other media outlets. He appears regularly as a guest on Catholic radio and hosts the radio program “Register Radio” for EWTN. In addition to his Ph.D. in Church History from the Graduate Theological Foundation he also holds a B.A. in History, an M.A. in Theology, a Master of Divinity degree, and a Doctor of Ministry degree.
